read more ↘ treatment of medial knee pathology. Trephination can relax the ligament and allow for easier access to the medial joint line. No off label use of materials or goods are presented. My consultant work and royalties as well as ownership have no influence on this talk. By trephination of the MCL, a surgeon can have greater access to, and more reliably repair cartilage (both the Meniscus and Articular) in the knee. This technique reduces the risk of injury to the knee during the performance of a knee arthroscopy. The MCL has been proven to heal uneventfully and return to normal function after trephination, and as such, this technique remains a valuable technique to the knee surgeon.
