The injury could be a contusion, a fracture or even a laceration to the thumb. following the injury there is pain in the wrist dorsally and it could radiate back to the shoulder. there is typically an objective weak grip that could be measured by jamar apparatus. there is difficulty writing and fatigue after short period of working. the idea is that there is a dynamic pressure on the radial nerve caused by ECRB which also help get a strong grip by extending the wrist. this video shows the radial nerve release in four steps. first SRN neurolysis followed by ECRB tenotomy, PIN neurolysis and finally SRN wrapping.
