COURSE DESCRIPTION

The future of neurosurgery is in minimally invasive techniques. This course is a comprehensive overview of the newly emerging field of minimally invasive cranial neurosurgery, combining didactic sessions with hands-on cadaver dissection.  Endoscopic instruments and surgical navigation equipment will be available to participants for use on fresh cadavers during laboratory sessions. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss difficult cases with the faculty during panel discussions. At the completion of this course, participants should be well equipped to start utilizing these approaches in their own practices.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE

By the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to: a. Recognize the indications and technical steps required to perform tube-based surgery for intraparenchyal brain tumors and hematomas b. Perform keyhole microsurgery of the anterior and posterior fossa c. Achieve a working knowledge of robotoic stereotactic placement of LITT and catheterbased therapy and their indications d. Develop a greater expertise of the complex skull base anatomy and indications for expanded endoscopic skull base approaches

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for practicing neurosurgeons and endoscopic surgeons , both national and international, and fellows and residents in training. Nurses, NPs, and PAs are also welcome.
